Queensland’s construction industry is growing fast, and a White Card is the legal entry ticket to any building or construction site. Here are ten common roles that require one.

1. General labourer - site clean-up, moving materials, trenching and scaffolding
2. Carpenter - working at heights with saws, nail guns and power tools
3. Construction electrician - wiring and switchboards around live power and confined spaces
4. Plumber - drainage, gas and water connections in trenches and on scaffolding
5. Concreter - pouring and finishing concrete using heavy and vibrating equipment
6. Plant and machinery operator - bulldozers, forklifts, cranes and excavators
7. Painter and decorator - interior and exterior work at height, around fumes and dust
8. Bricklayer or blocklayer - walls and masonry using cement, tools and scaffolding
9. Site cleaner or maintenance worker - handling debris, sharp tools and chemicals
10. Apprentice - entry-level workers across carpentry, plumbing, roofing and electrical trades
