Top 10 FAQs About the White Card in Brisbane

25 April 2025 · Justine Barber · 1 min read

Thinking about getting your White Card in Brisbane? Here are straight answers to the ten questions we are asked most often.

  1. What is a White Card and why do I need it? It proves you have completed mandatory construction safety training and understand basic risk identification, emergency response and legal compliance. You cannot work on a construction site without one.
  2. Where is training offered in Brisbane? EDB Training Services runs face-to-face courses at our Capalaba centre, with on-site options available for groups.
  3. How long does the course take? One day - typically around five to six hours of combined theory and practical instruction.
  4. Can I complete it online in Queensland? No, except for residents who live more than 100 km from the nearest RTO. Queensland requires face-to-face delivery.
  5. How much does it cost? Pricing is competitive and includes materials and your Statement of Attainment - see our White Card page for current rates.
  6. What should I bring? Photo identification, a USI, basic English, and enclosed footwear.
  7. Is the White Card valid nationally? Yes. It is recognised in every Australian state and territory.
  8. How long until I get the physical card? Usually within about two weeks by post - but your same-day Statement of Attainment lets you start work immediately.
  9. Do White Cards expire? No. However, refresher training is recommended if you have been out of the construction industry for two years or more.
  10. What if I lose my card? Contact EDB Training Services for a replacement; a small fee may apply.
