Certificate II in Hospitality
Entry-level qualification and a pathway into restaurants, hotels, cafés, clubs, pubs and catering. Combines classroom theory with practical training and a minimum of 12 workplace shifts.
Ideal for: Bar and café attendants, food and beverage attendants, front office and room attendants.
SIT30622
Certificate III in Hospitality
Build broader skills with options to specialise in food and beverage, accommodation services, or gaming. 15 units plus a 36-shift work placement in a real venue.
Ideal for: Baristas, food and beverage attendants, front desk receptionists, function hosts, senior bar attendants.
Funding & Pricing
VETiS for school students and the Queensland Government's Career Start program can significantly reduce the cost of your qualification for eligible students. Eligibility is confirmed at enrolment.

- Available to eligible secondary school students
- 100% funded by the VET investment budget - fee-free, no student contribution
- Eligibility confirmed through your school's VET coordinator

Certificate III in Hospitality
Career Start
- Aged 15 or older and no longer at school
- Permanent Queensland resident
- Australian or New Zealand citizen, or eligible permanent/temporary resident
- No Certificate III or higher completed in the last 10 years
- Not currently enrolled in another qualification
Concession pricing - around 50% lower student contribution - applies to eligible participants under Career Start.

Real Venue Work Placement
Put your skills into practice with workplace shifts in a real hospitality venue - 12 shifts for Certificate II, 36 for Certificate III.
Training Room or On-Site
Study theory and practical in our training room, or complete the Certificate III on the job with trainer visits to your workplace.

Are these qualifications nationally recognised?
Yes. Both hospitality qualifications are nationally recognised and delivered under EDB Training Services (RTO ID: 32376).
Which qualification should I start with?
If you are new to hospitality, the Certificate II is the ideal entry point. The Certificate III builds broader skills with options to specialise in food and beverage, accommodation, or gaming.
Do I have to complete work placement?
Yes. Hands-on experience is a core part of the training - the Certificate II requires a minimum of 12 shifts and the Certificate III requires 36 shifts in a real hospitality venue. Placement can be paid or voluntary.
Am I eligible for government funding?
Funding depends on your residency, age, and prior qualifications. School students may study the Certificate II fee-free through VETiS, and the Career Start program subsidises the Certificate III for eligible Queenslanders. We'll confirm your eligibility before you enrol.
Do you offer RSA, RSG or Barista training?
