How Long Does It Take to Get a White Card in Queensland?

Queensland’s approved-delivery conditions include a minimum training duration, and the RTO must also verify identity and complete the required records. The exact start and finish time can therefore vary between providers and scheduled sessions.

Why it cannot be an instant course

The White Card unit covers foundational construction safety knowledge that every worker needs before entering site. Training includes:

• work health and safety responsibilities
• common site hazards and appropriate risk controls
• personal protective equipment and safety signage
• communication and reporting
• emergency and incident procedures

You also need to complete the prescribed assessment successfully. Advertising that promises an almost-instant Queensland card should be treated cautiously.

How to avoid delays on the day

Before attending:

1. Confirm the exact identification documents required by the RTO.
2. Create or locate your Unique Student Identifier (USI).
3. Arrive by the stated registration time.
4. Bring enclosed footwear and anything you need to participate comfortably.
5. Tell the RTO in advance if you need language, literacy or accessibility support.

Missing identification or arriving after training has begun can mean you cannot join that session.

When will I receive the card?

After you successfully complete the course, the RTO follows Queensland’s process for issuing the general construction induction training card and your nationally recognised training record. Processing and delivery timing can vary, so ask the provider what evidence you will receive and when rather than assuming a particular postal timeframe.

Keep your Statement of Attainment, the RTO’s name and a copy of the card once it arrives. Those records are important if you later need a replacement.

Can I book on the same day?

Do not rely on walking in. Queensland-approved RTOs have advance notification obligations for scheduled general construction induction training. Book ahead and confirm your place, particularly if you need the training before a work start date.
