What to Expect From a Multi-Day Forklift Course

22 July 2024 · EDB Training Services · 1 min read

If you have never operated a forklift, the idea of an assessment can be daunting. The good news is that a forklift course is designed to take you from no experience to confident, safe operation - and the structure makes that very achievable.

The theory

Training starts with the knowledge you need to operate safely: workplace health and safety law, the forklift’s controls and stability, load capacity and load centre, hazard identification, and the rules for working around pedestrians and other plant.

The hands-on practice

  • Pre-operational inspections and safety checks
  • Smooth control of travel, steering and braking
  • Picking up, carrying and placing loads accurately
  • Manoeuvring in tight spaces and on ramps

The assessment

Once you are comfortable, you complete a formal assessment with a written (theory) component and a practical component observed by your assessor. Beginner-friendly pacing means most people pass first time - and if you need more practice, you will get feedback and a chance to be reassessed.

EDB Training Services delivers forklift licensing (HRWL, LF class) in Brisbane with experienced trainers and flexible dates.
