Can I Get a Forklift Licence Online?

It is a fair question in a world where so much training has moved online. The short answer: you cannot get a full forklift licence online, because operating a forklift is a high-risk activity that must be assessed in person.

Why face-to-face assessment is required

A forklift licence is a High Risk Work Licence (LF class). Safety regulators require the practical assessment to be conducted in person by a qualified assessor, on a real forklift, so they can confirm you can operate safely before you do so on a worksite. No video call can verify that.

What can be done remotely

• Some providers offer pre-course theory or reading you can do beforehand
• Enrolment, paperwork and your USI can be sorted online

What must be in person

• Hands-on practice operating the forklift
• The practical assessment with an assessor
• The formal verification needed to issue the licence
