Which licence do you need?
To legally operate a forklift in a Queensland workplace, operators must hold a High Risk Work Licence for that specific forklift type and follow safe operating procedures and workplace traffic management rules.
Forklift Truck(LF · TLILIC0003)
The most common forklift licence. Covers powered industrial trucks equipped with a mast and an elevating load carriage with a pair of fork arms (or other load-holding attachment) that can be raised 900mm or more above the ground, including counterbalance and high-reach forklifts.
Order-Picking Forklift(LO · TLILIC0004)
Required to operate order-picking equipment where the operator's controls travel with the load carriage as it lifts, also known as stock pickers, turret trucks, or narrow-aisle warehouse equipment.

Requirements & assessment
Prerequisites
- You must be 18 years old to sit the assessment.
- Bring 3 forms of valid identification (e.g. driver licence, Medicare card, bank card).
- Suitable for all skill levels, including those with an expired licence - contact our office to discuss your options.
Assessment
- Written exam - 61 questions, closed book, held every Friday at the training centre.
- Practical exam using real forklift equipment in our warehouse-replica facility.
- If you have access to a forklift and a willing supervisor at work, you can complete induction, take your logbook to your workplace for practical training, then return when ready for assessment.

Training at our centre is $550 per person, covering all training and assessment. A WorkSafe Queensland application fee of $113.41 is paid separately, directly to WorkSafe, when you apply for your licence.
