Warehouse and logistics staff who operate order-picking equipment, where the operator's controls travel with the load carriage as it lifts. An LF forklift licence does not cover this equipment - LO is a separate licence class.
Before you start
You must be 18 years old to sit the assessment, and bring three forms of valid identification (for example a driver licence, Medicare card and bank card). Because this licence is delivered at your workplace, you also need suitable order-picking equipment on site and a licensed supervisor who can oversee your practical training between the two attendance days.
How it runs
How it’s delivered
Delivered at your workplace in three stages - an induction day with our trainer, a period of supervised practical training on your own equipment with your licensed supervisor, then an assessment day. The middle stage runs at whatever pace suits your roster.
What’s assessed
A closed-book written exam and a practical assessment on the order-picking equipment you actually use, both covering safe operation, load handling and stability, pedestrian awareness, and pre-start inspection. Your logbook of supervised practice is reviewed as part of the assessment day.
What you leave with
The paperwork to apply for your LO High Risk Work Licence with WorkSafe Queensland.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does my forklift licence already cover an order picker?
No. LF covers counterbalance and high-reach forklifts. Order-picking equipment, where the operator rises with the load, is a separate licence class (LO) and needs its own assessment.
Can I do this at your training centre?
No. The LO licence is delivered at your workplace only, on your own equipment and in your own aisles. If you need a licence course at our Capalaba centre, that is the LF forklift licence.
Can I do LF and LO together?
Yes. We deliver the two together on site as a bundle, which costs less than booking them separately. Ask us when you enquire.
