How Much Does a Forklift Licence Cost in Brisbane?
A forklift licence in Brisbane has two separate costs: training and assessment with your provider, and a WorkSafe Queensland application fee paid directly to WorkSafe.

Forklift licence pricing varies a lot between providers, mostly because of what’s actually included. Some quotes cover training only, others bundle in the assessment, and almost none mention the separate government fee until you’re already booking. Here’s what actually makes up the cost of getting licensed in Brisbane, and where to find current pricing for each option.
What am I actually paying for?
Two separate things. First, training and assessment with your RTO, covering the practical and written components of the course. Second, once you pass, a WorkSafe Queensland application fee for the actual High Risk Work Licence (HRWL) itself, paid directly to WorkSafe rather than to your training provider. Does training cost the same everywhere?
Not necessarily, it depends on the pathway. A multi-day course at a training centre is priced as a single package covering the full course and assessment. On-site training, using your own workplace’s forklift, is typically priced per licence type (LF, or LO for order-picking), with a lower combined rate if you need both. Does a refresher cost the same as the full course?
No. If you already hold a current licence and just want to keep your skills sharp, a refresher session costs a fraction of the full multi-day course. It’s a good-practice option EDB recommends roughly every 12 months, separate from the formal 5-year WorkSafe licence renewal.
Can funding reduce the cost?
Potentially. If you study a Certificate III in Supply Chain Operations, your forklift licence can be built into the qualification, and Queensland’s Career Start program can subsidise a large part of the total cost.
