Forklift Licence

What is the Law?

  • Be licensed and competent to operate that particular forklift.
  • Follow safe operating procedures including following the traffic management rules at your workplace.

What Type of Licence Do I Need to Operate a Forklift?

There are two classes of licence needed for forklift related work in Brisbane and Queensland.
Forklift Licence Training Course
Forklift truck – LF (TLILIC0003)

The LF high risk work licence class allows you to use forklift trucks in Brisbane but does not include order-picking forklift trucks (see below).

A forklift truck is a powered industrial truck equipped with a mast and an elevating load carriage which has a pair of fork arms attached (that can be raised 900 mm or more above the ground) or other load holding attachment.

Order-picking forklift truck – LO (TLILIC0004)

To operate an order-picking forklift truck you need an LO high risk work licence.

An order-picking forklift truck has the operator’s control as part of the load carriage/lifting media and lifts with it. Order-picking forklift trucks are generally referred to as “stock pickers”. They can be fitted with a platform extension for use in furniture warehouses, or can be a turret truck in narrow aisle warehouses.

The training location remains accessible to residents of Wynnum and Wynnum West and Manly and Lota because they can complete their training before dinner time.

How Do EDB Training Classes Align With QLD Law?

All forklift operations in Queensland require a valid licence according to state laws. Operating a forklift does not grant automatic legal permission even for those who have extensive experience without holding an active  High Risk Work Licence (HRWL). Students need to complete official forklift training with a Registered Training Organisation (like EDB) before they can apply for their WorkSafe Queensland HRWL.

The required course is: TLILIC0003 – Licence to Operate a Forklift Truck

After completing your training and assessment we will give you the needed documents to submit your HRWL application on WorkSafe Queensland's website. The approved forklift licence becomes valid for five years throughout all Australian territories.

Our forklift training classes provide students with practical operating skills and the necessary knowledge for safe work performance on-site. Our training program teaches both theoretical knowledge and practical forklift operation to ensure students develop proper handling abilities.

Here’s what we cover:

  • The course includes teaching students to identify safety hazards as well as the proper techniques for checking safety equipment.
  • Load stability, stacking, and movement
  • Pre-start inspections and shutdown procedures
  • Forklift driving in tight spaces
  • Risk management and workplace safety laws
  • Everything required under Queensland’s WHS regulations

Students learn from trainers who teach complex topics through simple explanations. Our training sessions adapt to your existing knowledge to provide the necessary education for building authentic confidence.

Forklift Training Classes That Work Around Your Life

Everyone does not have a standard 9–5 work schedule. The training sessions run on weekdays and weekends to accommodate students who want to attend classes during times that match their personal schedule. The standard training period for most students spans two days which includes all required training and assessment activities. If you need extra time or require additional flexibility please let us know because we will work together to find a solution. The proximity of our training facility to Wynnum enables students to integrate their training into their weekly schedule without wasting time on commuting or disrupting their existing commitments.

Pricing That’s Upfront and Fair

We operate with straightforward business practices. The price structure at EDB Training is transparent and you will get a complete list of inclusions before beginning your training. After completing the course students need to submit their HRWL application through WorkSafe Queensland while paying the government fee which stands at $101.65. We will assist you with payment arrangements as well as guide you toward accessible funding options that can help you achieve your goals. Acquiring a forklift license provides immediate employment opportunities and delivers quick financial benefits after securing a job.

Job Opportunities for Forklift Operators in the Wynnum Area

Warehouses together with transport depots and logistics operations within the Bayside region keep experiencing expansion which has led to increased demand for forklift operators. A valid forklift licence combined with suitable training prepares you to excel in warehouse inventory roles as well as freight and logistics positions at ports and docks and manufacturing facilities and supply chain operations. Employers operating in and near Wynnum seek reliable workers with valid licenses so having your forklift ticket already in place makes you an attractive candidate for employment.
